Two students, aged 16 and 18, have been arrested over alleged attempted ritual murder for money. They were put before a Kumasi Circuit Court on Wednesday and Ebenezer Agyemang, the older of the two, was remanded into prison custody, while his colleague, Charles Frimpong, was granted a GH�10,000.00 bail with a surety. They denied the charges of conspiracy and attempted murder and would appear in court again on Tuesday, January 14. One other person, Mohammed Salu Aminu, said to be their accomplice, is on the run. Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) Archibald Kwesi Fandoh told the court presided over by Mr Emmanuel Amo-Yartey, that Agyemang is a student of the Ghana National Academy while his-co-accused attends the Adventist Preparatory School, all in Kumasi. He alleged that, for some time now, the two had become obsessed with thoughts of making money through �juju� and contacted Aminu, who promised to help them achieve their dream. He demanded human blood and cash of GH�60.00 to perform the necessary rituals. They readily produced the money but had difficulty meeting the other condition. They later came up with an idea, lured one Godslove Agyei Dufie, a final year student of the Atonsu Presbyterian Junior High School to Atonsu-Kuwait, on January 1, where they attempted to draw her blood. The prosecution said the alertness of people in the neighbourhood foiled the crime - they were arrested and handed over to the police. They admitted the offence in their caution statement.
