Ghanaian Troops Set To Move To South Sudan

The Ghana Armed Forces is to deploy Ghanaian troops to the United Nations Mission in South Sudan (UNMISS) next week, a military statement to the Ghana News Agency in Accra on Thursday stated. The statement signed by Colonel M. Atitande, Director of Public Relations explained that there will be an inter-mission transfer of Ghanaian Battalion in the United Nations Operations in Cote d�Ivoire to South Sudan. The statement said the troops from Cote d�Ivoire will serve for a period of three months after which they will be replaced by a fresh contingent of about 850 troops direct from Ghana. It also added that Ghana already had a number of officers and Military observers in UNIMISS, of which the Force Commander is a Ghanaian, Major General Dela Sakyi.
