Ghana coach Akwasi Appiah says players without clubs will not be considered for selection when making his squad for the World Cup � putting players like John Mensah at real risk of missing out. The ex Black Stars captain has been without a club since leaving Stade Rennes at the end of last season after the expiration of his loan deal. Mensah�s current clublessness now puts him at risk of missing out on Ghana�s squad for June�s World Cup in Brazil. Black Stars coach Akwasi Appiah however says players with clubs but not playing regular football have a chance to make his squad due to some factors. Akwasi Appiah has given perhaps the most chances to Ghanaian players who play in various parts of the world to win a place in the increasingly competitive Black Stars squad. The competition for limited places in the Black Stars squad is expected to be even more intense as the tournament in Brazil which is just five months away draws closer. Some Ghanaian players have already started joining clubs on loan in order to secure regular top flight football to give them a chance of making the dreaded squad. And coach Appiah has issued clear criteria for selecting players to the World Cup. �I will not consider players without clubs when doing my selection,� he told Metro FM. �If you don�t have a club, how can you convince me that you are fit enough to play at the World Cup? �I will however consider players with clubs even if they are not playing regularly as there could be a variety of reasons they are not playing. �It could be that their experience and expertise cannot be replaced in the national team so there you are left with no choice. �It could also be that the one they are competing with at their clubs are better than them but might be good enough to play for us. �[Majeed] Waris is a clear example. He didn�t play a lot of games at his club but he was very effective whenever he was with the national team. �It is almost the same situation with Michael Essien and Fatau Dauda. �And for such players, because they have clubs, they maintain a level of fitness and sharpness that we can count on as against players who don�t have clubs.� Samuel Inkoom is the latest Ghanaian player to have secured a loan move in order for him to play more games to qualify him for World Cup selection. Others include Abdul Majeed Waris, Jordan Ayew and Razak Braimah.
