Highlife music is a genre that is perceived to appeal to the older generation of musicians, however, some young artiste like Kwabena Kwabena and Kweisey Pee have helped to lend it a vibrant tune loved not just by the older folks but the youth as well.
It is therefore not surprising that new entrants into music continue to produce highlife songs and the latest to join the family is Kojo Dwamena He has released four highlife songs titled Kwansema,Jah Reigns,Going Home and Chosen One which is part of his upcoming album, Zugu.
Recorded by different bands ,Kwansemaa tells the story of an unfaithful friend who got married to a lady only to cheat on her few days after their matrimony.
After realizing the astounding qualities his wife possesses, the unfaithful husband musters courage to write an apology letter to the wife asking for forgiveness.
Going home which also talks about marital problems creates a fictional story of a lady who after enduring a bitter marriage for several years had no choice than to go back to her parents� home.
The song entreats couples whose relationships are on the verge of collapse to take bold steps to separate after several failed attempts to make it work.
A graduate from the Central University College, Dwamena told showbiz that he decided to do highlife because he is convinced that it can put Ghana music on the international front.
�I had a lot of challenges coming out with these songs because everyone was telling me to do what to them was trending but I had the conviction that I could still make it big with highlife� Dwamena said.
Currently signed on Concept Engineers, Dwamena who is a professional drummer expressed his appreciation to those who have made it possible for him to reach this far as he considers the �sky to be the beginning of his success story�.
