Ghana - Libya Preview: Black Stars & Mediterranean Knights Scramble For Top Spot

The Local Black Stars of Ghana lock horns with The Mediterranean Knights in the second Group C game on Friday as both nations seek to make it to the quarter-finals. Ghana have played Libya four times in the last six years with the last encounter being a 1-0 this local Black Stars team suffered at the hands of their north African counterparts in a friendly game late last year in Tunis. The 2009 CHAN in Ivory Coast saw the local Black Stars drawing 1-1 with The Mediterranean Knights in Group B in a highly entertaining game and this clash is expected to also live up to the billing. Elmutasem Abushnaf and Abdelsalam Omar who struck either side of the break for the north Africans in their 2-0 win over a well-drilled Ethiopian side will be motivated enough to record a win against Ghana with support from midfielder Marwan al-Marbrouk. Coach Javier Clemente's youthful side will face a challenging test as they seek a win against a Ghanaian side who pipped Congo Brazzaville 1-0. Ghana are set to parade the same squad with a few changes upfront where Seidu Bancey is expected to start ahead of Sulley Mohammed, who was just a mere passenger in the game against Congo. Godfred Saka as usual will be asked to run down the right flank and support the attack just like in the game against Congo in order to restrict the Libyans from playing their normal wing game. Strong defender Kwabena Edusei also has to be at his best to stop the threatening Libyan attack, especially danger-man Abushnaf. A scoring draw looks likely but the side who takes the chances that come its way will win
