NPP & NDC Join Hands In Oforikrom

For some time now, many Ghanaians have resigned themselves to the fate that the ruling National Democratic Congress (NDC) and the biggest opposition party, the New Patriotic Party (NPP) will never be able to work together in the national interest. However, the Member of Parliament for Oforikrom, Hon. Elizabeth Agyeman and the Kumasi Metropolitan Assembly (KMA), Kojo Bonsu are exemplifying the fact that both parties can work together for the nations good by coming together to rescue 9600 girls between the ages of 9 and 11 years practicing prostitution in the Kumasi Metropolis. According to the MP for Oforikrom, the initiative to help the girls was hatched after a Kumasi-based radio, Nhiyra FM had an interview with a few girls who claimed to be living and practicing their trade in Dagomba Line, a suburb of the metropolis. in the studios of Nhyira FM, these little girls narrated the story about their way of life. I was then invited to see them since I am a mother and an MP. I went to the studio to meet the little girls and I was very sadI then decided to do something about the situation since the Dagomba Line is part of my Constituency, Hon. Elizabeth Agyeman, who is affectionately known as peoples mother, narrated to Adakabre Frimpong Manso on NEAT FM. The MP for Oforikrom recalled how astonished she was upon witnessing at first hand the number of young girls who work as head porters in the day and sell their bodies in the night for a living, when she woke up one early in the morning to see at first hand the practice at Dagomba Line. Upon further investigations, it came to light that many of the girls were very ill and needed immediate medical attention. I then went to inform Kojo Bonsu since he is the Mayor of Kumasi. I begged him and we agreed that the issue had nothing to do with politics and therefore acted on the matter, she revealed. Later in a telephone interview with the KMA Boss, he commended Hon. Elizabeth Agyeman for the good she has embarked on to raise the standard of living of the people in her Constituency and pledged to do all within his power to provide education for the many young girls who already have babies. we have a partnership with the Israeli government called Early Childhood Learning Training and I have already discussed with Auntie Elizabeth on how to come together and bring such a program into that area. If you contact anyone in that area, you would be told about a survey that was recently done.i will ensure that they are provided with electricity to enhance security because there are reported cases of theft in the area, Kojo Bonsu promised.
