Armed Robbers Who Raped A Thai National Arrested (Photo)

The Ashanti Regional Police Command has arrested four (4) suspected armed robbers who robbed and raped a Thai National and her compatriots last week. The unfortunate incident took place on the 14th January, 2014 at about 10pm at Deduako, a suburb of Kumasi. The robbers during their expedition robbed their victims of their personal effects. Some of which are a Toshiba laptop, jewelries, a digital camera, assorted mobile phones, an amount of GH5,500.00 cedis and US 800 dollars. Briefing pressmen in Ashanti Region this morning, the Ashanti Regional Police Commander, DCOP Augustine Gyening explained that on the 14th of this month, the armed robbers stormed the apartment of the Thai Nationals and their Ghanaian compatriot and raped one of the Thai national and made away with their valuable items but escaped before the Police patrol team got to scene. However, on the 17th January, 2014 at about 3:00pm, Police got information the alleged robbers had gone into hiding at Kenyase, a suburb of Kumasi in the Ashanti Region. Armed with this information, a patrol team was dispatched to the area and subsequently arrested the four (4) namely Kwaku Sarpong 28, Nana Kwasi Agyemang 22, Kwame Antwi 28 alias "Ghost killer and Kwadwo Kumi 22. They were then brought to the Regional CID for further investigations. All three suspects are currently in Police custody assisting in investigations.
