Essien fails medicals at Milan

Black Stars' midfielder, Michael Essien is said to have failed his medicals to seal a switch to Italian side AC Milan. According to information emanating from the Italian media, Essien has failed the first part of the medical tests related to a knee injury. The former Chelsea midfielder who arrived in Milan late Friday to complete his switch from the London club had medicals on Saturday morning at the La Madonnina Clinic. He was expected to the complete the process at Milanello, the club�s training grounds and sign an 18-month contract. According to the reports, if unresolved, the latest development could see Essien revert to Chelsea. The midfielder is expected to earn a combined salary of �4.5million by the time his contract with Milan expires on June 30, 2015. He is expected to accrue �1.5million for the next six months and an additional �3million for the 2014/15 season. Essien, who has a history with cruciate ligament injuries is billed to undergo a series of stress tests with both parties desperate to revive the transfer.
