The Customs Division of the Ghana Revenue Authority (GRA) is expected to partner the Ghana Police Service to arrest more criminals alleged to be involved in the over 90,000 Ghana Cedis recruitment scandal.
The division last week Friday 24 January arrested a member of the criminal network, 29 year old Ransford Koranteng after taking GHC 3000 each from over 30 of his victims.
The network operates across the country and dupe members of the unsuspecting public on the pretext of helping them secure recruitment into the customs division of the GRA.
Speaking to Citi Business News the Chief Revenue Officer at the Customs Division of the GRA, Seidu Iddrisu said the arrested suspect had managed to provide his victims with appointment letters.
�He has gone to the extent of issuing appointment letters to some of them with their names written on it that they have been appointed that they will be sent to various locations for training in the GRA and the some of them would be sent to Sunyani, Kumasi and other locations for training.�
According to him, after concluding with their preliminary investigations the suspect will be handed over to the police to also compliment in efforts to expose the network because the matter borders on fraud.
Several of the victims from the Central, Western, Eastern and Volta regions have reported to the customs division of the GRA help in investigations.
One of the victims narrated his experience with the arrested suspect saying, �He was introduced to me by my brother last December and he said he had a contract letter to do the recruitment exercise, we paid 1550 to him and we paid another 100 Ghana Cedis for finger print.�
The GRA has therefore called on members of the public to be weary of the actions of these unscrupulous criminal acting as recruitment agents.
