Minister Urges Consensus On Sports Stadium

Mr Elvis Afriyie Ankrah, Youth and Sports Minister, has urged consensus on the location of a new Regional Sports Stadium in Ho. He said only one stadium could be provided and not one each for the University of Health and Allied Sciences (UHAS) and another at where the current Ho Sports Stadium is located as being proposed. Mr Ankrah stated this position at the first general meeting of Volta Regional House of Chiefs (VRHC) for 2014 in Ho. He has been inspecting sports facilities in Kpando and Ho and possible sites for the regional sports stadium. Mr Ankrah said he was sad to see what had often been referred to as the Kpando Sports Stadium. Reactions picked by the Ghana News Agency favoured separate sports stadiums for the region and the UHAS because a single stadium could not be shared between the public and the University as that would create inconveniences. References were made to the sports facilities at the University of Ghana, Legon, Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST), University of Cape Coast, and the Ohene Djan, Baba Yara and Robert Mensah Sports Stadiums in Accra, Kumasi and Cape Coast respectively.
