Winner of Miss excel plus 2013, Dorinda Armstrong Mensa (Egyirba), has taken it upon herself to wine and dine with the mentally challenged. She explains that people with disability are often neglected but believes if they are shown love and care , their predicament will be half solved. She said this in an interview with a showbiz correspondent when she was asked about the project she wants to embark on. She further stated that if she is able to put smiles on their faces, it will be dream come true. Interestingly, she decided to embark on such a project due to an unfortunate situation which ended one of her siblings at the psychiatric hospital. She said, having witnessed the conditions under which most of the mentally challenged live in various psychiatric hospitals, it touches her heart to aid them in whatever capacity she can to better their lot. She further disclosed that, her decision to help better the lives of the mentally challenged motivated her to partake in the Miss excel plus 2013, so she can get a good platform to advance her course adding that, she would do all she can to canvass support for her cherished project to enable her meet the set goals. Miss egyirba who hails from the central region, cape coast to be precise, is a third year Business Administration student at knutsford university. As part of the winning package, she takes home a parcel of land, a decoder and a week stay in South Africa courtesy Seasons Travel and Tours. Miss Egyirba is calling on stakeholders, coporate bodies, and non governmental organizations to support her make her dream a reality.
