Airtel Supports Ghana Music Week 2014

Airtel Ghana, the CIMG Telecoms Operator of the year, is supporting the Musicians Union of Ghana (MUSIGA) as a lead sponsor for this year�s GMW 2014 (Ghana Music Week 2014). MUSIGA�s Ghana Music Week which was formally launched on 5th February 2014 in Accra is to celebrate Ghanaian music and to honour and reward music excellence in the country. The festival under the theme �Positioning Ghanaian Music as the Heartbeat of Tourism� aims at creating an annual platform to bring together and encourage the participation of music performers and various stakeholders in the creative sector. It will be held at the National Theater, Accra Sports Stadium and other venues in Accra from 3 � 9 March 2014. Speaking at the media launch, the Head of Corporate Communications at Airtel Ghana, Donald Gwira said, �Music is about peace, love, celebration and connecting people. At Airtel, we connect people across the country with our various services�. He recalled that Airtel Ghana was thrilled to be part of the maiden edition of the GMW 2013, hence the coming on board for the second edition. Mr. Gwira further said with GMW being an integral part of our entertainment and independence day celebrations, he hoped GMW will grow to become a very big tourist attraction where people from all walks of life will come and celebrate and enjoy true Ghanaian music. The 2014 Ghana Music Week was launched in collaboration with the National Theatre, Ministry of Tourism, Culture & Creative Arts and Media Partners.
