No Ghanaian Club In 2014 Top 200 IFFHS Club World Ranking

No Ghanaian club was rated by the International Federation of Football History and Statistics in the top 200 IFFHS Club World Ranking for January this year as domestic top flight clubs have struggled to make an impact in continental club competitions. The Club World Ranking for January 2014 was conducted after the IFFHS reviewed the performance of clubs between February 1, 2013 and January 31st 2014. The latest development has raised concerns from Ghanaian football fans, who have questioned the quality of the domestic top flight and this could place the four Ghanaian representatives Asante Kotoko, Berekum Chelsea, Medeama SC and Ebusua Dwarfs under pressure to impress in this seasons CAF Inter-club competitions and restore some pride for the nation, when the next IFFHS ranking is released. Berekum Chelsea was the last Ghanaian club to be rated in the top 200 IFFHS Club World Ranking following the Blues impressive display in 2012, which made the 2011 Ghana Premier League champions the fourth best club on the continent behind Esperance du Tunis and Sudanese pair Al Hilal and Al Merriekh. Tunisian club Esperance Tunis, who finished at 81st position on the global ranking, was rated as the best club in Africa. CS Sfaxien, also from Tunisia, emerged as the second best African team with an overall position of 85 ahead of the reigning champions of Caf Champions League Al Ahly on 103rd. Stade Malien are lying 4th with TP Mazembe of DR Congo placed 5th and South African outfit Orlando Pirates occupying the 6th spot on the January 2014 African club ranking table. Cameroons Coton Sport de Garoua have been fixed at the 7th position on the continental ratings with Zamalek of Egypt lying 8th and Tunisias Etoile Sportive du Sahel occupying the 9th position. Angolas CRD Libolo have been rated as the 10th best African club. The global ranking table is topped by European and world champions Bayern Munich followed by Spanish giants Real Madrid and Premier League side Chelsea.
