Calm Down, Arch Bishop Duncan-Williams

The General Overseer of the Christian Action Faith International, Arch Bishop Nicholas Duncan-Williams has come under criticism these few days for praying for the economy of Ghana and commanding the Cedi to rise from its fall. He was ridiculed by his critics who saw nothing spiritual about the fall of the Cedi to warrant a commanding prayer from the Man of God. Much as this was expected due to the differences Ghanaians have with their beliefs, it became obvious that some of the criticisms went overboard, warranting a response from the Arch Bishop. As human as he is, Arch Bishop Duncan Williams may have been hurt by the level of criticisms, more so when some of the people speaking against him have not come any close to his achievements in life. The Catalyst sees nothing wrong with the Man of God reacting to attacks on his personality by some of the people at the centre of the attacks; buy, it appears that, in trying to justify himself and proving his worth, the Arch Bishop went a bit too far. The attacks did not warrant such rebuttal from the experienced Man of God, who should have appreciated the situation better than those who were ridiculing him. In the first place, spiritual things are spiritually discerned. In most cases, spiritual things are ridiculed because they do not make sense at all to the canal person. Even the birth of the Lord Jesus Christ makes no sense to people till today. Additionally, Jesus Christ serves as the best and only example for Christians to emulate; the King of kings and Lord of lords went through much more serious things than what is happening to the Minister of the Gospel today but He did not react. Perhaps, one might say that, because He had supernatural powers. He was able to overcome. That may be true but Jesus carried the feelings of humanity and felt things just as we are doing today. He knows what we are going through and had asked us to forgive those who offend or persecute us. That is the perfect example for any man of God aiming to be like Christ. If achievers attack Arch Bishop Duncan Williams, that would not be news and it would be too easy to bear. He needs criticisms from people far below him to prove his level of tolerance and forbearance, which are some of the qualities of Christianity. Some months back, a similar thing happened when another renowned man of God responded harshly to the use of his preaching for political purposes. The Man of God descended heavily on the offenders. Men of God ought to be conscious of some of the traps of the enemy that come from close allies and people around them in order to guard against actions that might rather expose them (Men of God) that those through whom the offences come. They need to calm down in the face of such provocations, to serve as example to their numerous followers who look up to them as examples of righteousness and holiness. They need to continually portray the lifestyle of Christ at all times, especially when they are extremely provoked. The Catalyst would like to encourage the hard working Ministers of the Gospel the hard working Ministers of the Gospel to exercise tolerance and forbearance when it comes to situations like this. Calm down, Arch Bishop for Jesus went through worst things than this.
