�Ghanaians after enduring the harsh economic suffering from the reign of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) would never forgive the New Patriotic Party (NPP) if we fail to win power in 2016 and rescue them from these harsh economic problems,� says Alhaji Ahmed Sadat, NPP Nasara Club Coordinator Aspirant. This, according to him, is the price the party would be paying if they fail to reconcile the current internal party wrangling and move the party to winning ways. The NPP has recently been in the news for the bad reasons following the vetting committee of the party�s decision to suspend the candidature of chairmanship aspirant, Paul Afoko, and five others. The five contestants have however been reinstated after an appeal to the party�s vetting committee. However, that of Paul Afoko nonetheless has attracted widespread condemnation from members of the party with a leading member of the party, Dr. Nyaho Tamakloe, describing the decision of the NPP vetting committee as something borne out of tribal considerations. Other leading members of the party, including Member of Parliament (MP) for Okere and former General Secretary of the party, Dan Botwe, have also called the bluff of Mr. Tamakloe arguing that his comments were needless and not a reflection of the reality as the party�s vetting committee cuts across regional and tribal lines. And this back and forth within the party, the Nasara Coordinator Aspirant thinks, is unnecessary describing as something which would not lead to the unity and cohesion of the Danquah-Busia-Dombo tradition. Hence, he has called on all the feuding factions in the party to let sleeping dogs lie and instead concentrate on actions that would lead to unity in the party in the run-up to its Tamale delegates� congress. �We need to forge ahead in unity and canvass for votes to the best of our abilities bearing in mind that our opponents today would be our counterparts we would work with to wrestle power from the NDC come 2016�,� he said. The former aide to the late Vice President of Ghana, Alhaji Aliu Mahama, called on the camps of Paul Afoko, the party leadership and Mr. Nyaho Tamakloe, to all place the party and the country�s interest above their personal one. The aforementioned groups and individuals, he mentioned, should hold back their fire remembering that the NPP in which interest they are serving can never appreciate an effort that retards its progress. Anything short of victory for the democratic credentials the party has constantly touted, he said, will not appease the teeming supporters of the NPP and Ghanaians who look up to the party for economic rescue from the NDC. �Reserve your fire, and consider the internal unity which is very essential for our victory in 2016, we need such to fight and win the NDC hands down�,� he said. He further appealed to the Zongo caucus in the party, to also see him as someone who can work seriously to make the Zongo votes count in the party and hence vote him as the Nasara Coordinator for NPP.
