Topping Out Ceremony Performed For One Airport Square

Laurus Development Partners developers of the One Airport Square in Accra as per construction firms tradition on Friday, February 28, 2014 performed a Topping out Ceremony to officially mount the last beam at the top of the superstructure. The rationale behind the Topping Out Ceremony is to show appreciation to the about three hundred and twenty (320) Ghanaian construction workers who have worked relentlessly for the past 20 months to ensure the buildings unique structure was completed on time and encourage them to complete the project as scheduled. Brought to you by Actis, the investor that developed the Accra Mall, the building comprises nine (9) floors of office space and 1,500m2 of retail space. Elegant and contemporary, One Airport Square is a striking development comprising17,000m2 of offices and 260 car parking spaces, featuring large and efficient floor plates and raised flooring. By using natural light and ventilation, One Airport Square will consume 30-40% less energy and incur lower operating and maintenance costs than other similar buildings. In addition, by collecting and reusing rain water, the building will reduce its load to the public water grid. This ultra-modern, eco-friendly building is Ghanas most advanced development, employing the latest building principles and state-of-the-art finishes. It will be the first green commercial building in West Africa. It also boasts landscaped public gardens and a spectacular roof terrace. One Airport Square is set to become one of the citys most prominent design landmarks and business destinations. One Airport Square is a joint venture between Actis and Myma Belo Osagie of Boston Investments Limited, developed by Laurus Development Partners. Politecnica are the structural engineers behind the masterpiece which was designed by the award-winning sustainability architect, Mario Cucinella. One Airport Square is a Class-A office development located in the growing commercial district of Airport City in Accra. The One Airport Square is scheduled to be completed by October this year.
