Harry Zakour Must Speak With Facts - Hearts MD Fires Back

The Managing Director of Accra Hearts of Oak, Neil Armstrong Mortagbe, has hit back at the clubs former CEO Harry Zakkour for criticising the current management of not being able to attract top notch players. Zakkour, who is seen as the most successful Hearts CEO in recent times having won the CAF Champions League, Super Cup and the league title in the year 2000, criticised the club for not doing much to bring in quality players. Hearts came under intense scrutiny for spending billions of Ghana cedis on otherwise mediocre players two seasons ago. The club has struggled in recent times to recapture their glorious days again. The phobians lie second in the league standings, 12 points behind leaders Kumasi Asante Kotoko. But the Hearts of Oak MD is adamant that the club has recovered from their earlier set back. We have signed serious quality players even in this season. They may not be performing to the level that we anticipated but we signed them. Mortagbe believes Hearts still have quality players in Silas Adjei, Gilbert Fiamenyo and Ezekiel Tetteh. You were all a prey to the chase of Ezekiel Tetteh between Hearts of Oak and Kotoko. A year and a half ago, Gilbert Fiamenyo was in the news but we were able to sign them. Despite not winning the league title for the past four seasons, Mr. Mortagbe still believes the club has done its part to make sure they sign the best players in Ghana. I think that we should base these comments on facts rather than conjecture so for me with all due respect to Mr. Zakkour, he should base whatever he is saying on facts rather than a blunt statement, Mortagbe concluded.
