Theres No Tension Ablakwa

The Education Ministry has dismissed reports of tension between itself and authorities at the University of Ghana. The Ministry this week demanded a report from the University Council over its decision to prevent the use of its road as a thoroughfare by the general public. This request from the Ministry has been criticized by some who the ministry is usurping the powers of the University. But speaking to Citi News, Deputy Education Minister, Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa said there is a cordial relationship between the University and the Ministry. He said: I do not think the Ministry of Education only invoked Section 26 of the University of Ghana Act which we are mandated to do. The University has also very quickly in less than 24 hours having received our letter, responded and submitted a report. According to the Deputy Minister, their intervention and the quick response from Legon should show the good faith and mutual respect and trust which exist between the Ministry and the University of Ghana. He expressed the hope that communication will improve between the two institutions to forge more collaborations between them.
