Two men who allegedly snatched a Nissan Match from its owner at Santa Maria, a suburb of Accra, and later sold it to a buyer at Asamankese in the Eastern Region, at a cost of GH3,000, have been arrested by the Adabraka police. The suspects, Kwesi Twumasi Ankrah, aka Boutique or Kwesi Nkran and Richard Blay or Ronald Blay, are now in police custody. Richard Blay as well as the buyer, Abu Mohammed, was arraigned before an Accra Circuit Court but the latter was granted bail while Blay was remanded to reappear on April 1, 2014. Narrating the incident to DAILY GUIDE, DSP Ebenezer Nketia, the Adabraka District Police Crime Officer, said the two committed the act in September last year. Police intelligence gathered indicated that the two suspects hired the services of the taxi driver (yet to be identified) who was using the Nissan Match Blue and Yellow in colour from the Kwame Nkrumah Circle to Santa Maria, near Sowutuom around 9:30 pm. Half way through their journey, DSP Ebenezer Nketia said, the two pulled a knives on the driver and managed to snatch the vehicle from him. They then bolted with the vehicle to Asamankese and managed to get suspect Abu Mohammed to buy it. According to him, the police received information that the suspects were selling a stolen Nissan Match and managed to arrest suspect Richard Blay on November last year, after playing hide-and-seek with the police. Blay, upon his arrest, the police officer said, confessed to the act and led the police to arrest Abu Mohammed, but Kwesi Twumasi Ankrah managed to escape. On March 21, 2014, Suspect Kwesi Twumasi Ankrah was spotted around Adabraka Sahara by the police and was grabbed, DSP Nketia disclosed. Suspect has also admitted to the crime and would be put before court soon. They have been charged for conspiracy to commit crime and robbery. Any driver in-charge of a Nissan Match who was attacked within August and September last year, should report at the Adabraka Police Station to help identify the car, he charged.
