A middle-aged man has been caught stealing some metal fencing used to fence the George Walker Bush Motorway in Accra. The suspect, who only gave his name as God, was seen removing the bolt and nuts used to fasten the metal fencing and some quantities of the metal fencing mesh. The suspect is currently in police cells awaiting trial, after being charged with the offence of stealing by the Tesano police. Chief Superintendent Lydia Donkor, the Tesano District Police Commander, told the media that the police had realised that most of the metal fencing used after the construction of the road, had been removed by some unscrupulous persons on the Motorway. �Even some of the metals used to cover the open culverts had also been removed by these people,� she disclosed. Police mounted surveillance on the suspected criminals but could not arrest any of them until luck eluded God, who was nabbed by one Kwadwo Banahene, a civilian, and handed over to the police yesterday. Some of the metal fencing removed by suspect was brought to the station. Upon interrogation, the suspect confessed that he actually wanted to sell the fencings to some scrap dealers. Chief Superintendent Donkor urged civilians to assist the police to apprehend those who have been removing the metal fencings along the roads.
