THE POLICE have nabbed two people in connection with the assault of Regina Pokuaa, the Class Three teacher at the Gambia No.2 D/A Primary School in the Asutifi North District of the Brong-Ahafo Region, who was stripped naked by a Primary Six pupil and his family members last Friday. Those arrested � Lydia Antwi, 24 and Beatrice Amponsah, 26, � are both sisters of the P6 pupil, are expected to appear before the Goaso District Magistrate Court today. Narrating her ordeal to DAILY GUIDE on Tuesday amidst tears, Ms Pokuaa said her right eye could not see properly as it continued to secrete some fluid ever since she was attacked. Fresh information gathered by DAILY GUIDE indicate that the defenseless teacher was attacked on two successive days � on 21 and 22 March, this year by the Class Six boy and his two sisters. The Asutifi North District Police Commander, Samuel Annan, told Radio XYZ that Regina�s clothes were torn by the time she got to the police station to file a complaint. He said the attackers, Lydia Antwi and Beatrice Amponsah, were immediately arrested and charged with assault. �I feel so sad because of the school children. Right now I cannot go and teach these same children who saw my nakedness,� she lamented. According to her, the whole incident started on Thursday, March 21, when the Class Six boy slapped her at a time she and Faustina Yeboah, the Class Two madam, were advising him to put up a good behaviour. The young female teacher said the Class Six boy prevented his sister in Class Two from bringing a cocoyam she volunteered to bring to school for a practical work. When the Class Two teacher confronted the boy in front of Ms Pokuaa, the boy rudely spoke to them. When Ms Pokuaa tried to advise him, he slapped her and so she retaliated, resulting in a brawl. The boy then removed his school uniform, Pokuaa said, tore it and threw it at her and ran home, claiming that she had beaten him and torn his uniform. The following day the boy came to the school with his two sisters who went straight to Ms Pokuaa�s class and started raining insults on her. They in the process held her hair and dragged her onto the floor and assaulted her mercilessly, she narrated. She said she reported the matter to the police. On Monday, it took the plea of GNAT officials for her to get her freedom after she was held for almost the entire day following the assault.
