SAMUEL DENIS Ayibah, a 55-year-old businessman, was shot and killed Tuesday when two unidentified gunmen allegedly stormed his residence at Tema. The deceased, who lived with his family at Community 4 in the Republic Road Electoral Area, was shot in the forehead, scattering his eyes and gushing out his brain while parking his new Toyota Highlander vehicle with registration number GT 449-14. Police personnel from the Homicide Squad, Crime Scene Detectives, ballistic experts from the Forensic Science Laboratory, led by the Director of Criminal Investigations Department (CID), Commissioner of Police (COP) Prosper Kwame Agblor, visited the scene to commence investigation into the matter. This comes after a series of murder cases recently recorded in the Tema Metropolis, including victims like Rosemond Nyampong, a Stanbic Bank staff; Kwesi Prah, Akosombo Zenith Bank Manager; Fennec Okyere, businessman and music producer and Quist Kwesi Deffore, an Immigration Officer. The police have not been able to resolve most of these gruesome killings. Meanwhile, the lifeless body of the deceased has been deposited at the Tema General Hospital awaiting transfer to the Korle Bu Teaching Hospital for autopsy. Ayibah�s attackers, Daily Guide gathered, did not take anything from the house or his car. They sped off on their unregistered motorbike after the shooting. Series Of Attacks Prior to the attack on the businessman, murderers, using the same modus operandi, attacked Stephen Agbanu, a worker with the Tema Oil Refinery (TOR), who had closed from work at about 10:20pm around the Valco Roundabout, and made away with his mobile phone, ATM card and an unspecified amount of money. Immediately after robbing Agbanu, the suspects further attacked a yet-to-be-identified man who was allegedly taking his girlfriend home from Accra to a place near the Tema Valco Club House (Vera), killing him instantly and making away with some items before murdering Ayibah. The suspected robbers allegedly took advantage of the blackout in the area, and thinking that Ayibah was attempting to disturb their movement � as they were nearly knocked down by his vehicle when reversing for proper parking in the garage � launched the attack on him. Probe Cecilia Nyantakyi, wife of Samuel Denis Ayibah told DAILY GUIDE at the scene, �I was in the room with my husband while there was light off so when the light came, he decided to go and park his car properly in the garage. A few minutes after he had stepped out, I heard an unusual noise and gunshots so I quickly came out only to see my husband in a pool of blood.� According to her, when she came out, Ayibah was still breathing but his face was full of blood. She appealed to the police to probe the matter to ensure that the perpetrators of the dreadful act were made to face the full rigors of the law. COP Prosper Agblor, speaking with a section of the media at the Tema General Hospital morgue after visiting the crime scene, maintained that the police were optimistic that the predators would soon be apprehended. He said the police were taking the matter very seriously, noting, �In this incident, we could have arrested the perpetrators if the public was vigilant since the empty shell ammunition retrieved shows the weapon used was a locally manufactured pistol or a shotgun which could fire only once.� He reassured the public, especially residents of Tema, that the police were on top of the security situation and would always protect them and their properties. COP Agblor asked the public to volunteer information that would lead to the arrest of the suspects and other criminals in the country. Meanwhile, the police have mounted a major hunt for the assailants.
