Health Facilities Across Ghana Put On High Alert Following Outbreak Of Ebola Virus

Health facilities across the country have been put on red alert following the outbreak of the Ebola virus in neighbouring countries. The Ghana Health Service is warning that there is no vaccination for the virus and the public should be extra careful. Speaking to Radio Ghana, the Head of Disease Control and Surveillance at the Ghana Health Service, Dr Bede Sakordie told Radio Ghana the virus has not yet been detected in Ghana. Meanwhile, the Director General of the Ghana Health Service, Dr Appiah-Denkyira has called for an urgent national preparation to forestall any outbreak of the Ebola virus which is currently threatening the borders of Ghana. This follows reports of an outbreak of the viral disease in neighbouring Guinea, Sierra Leone and Liberia where health workers are battling to contain the virus for the past three days. Speaking to Radio Ghana, Dr Denkyira explained the actual symptoms of the disease.
