Employers Association Proposes 2.5 % Increase In Daily Minimum Wage

The Ghana Employers Association is proposing a 2.5 percent increase in the National Daily Minimum Wage for 2014. Organized labour is also proposing a 20 percent increase in the minimum wage. A National Tripartite Committee meeting is expected to be reconvened within the week to find a compromise among all stakeholders. Speaking to Citi Business News the Deputy minister of Employment and Labour Relations Antwi- Bosiako Sekyere said discussions are at an advanced stage. �Because it is a negotiated pay no one social partner can decree it, we started discussing it in October last year, we have been going back and forth and we have reach a point where we are very close in negotiations it is give and take� he stressed.
