The Ashanti Regional Police Commander, DCOP Nathan Kofi Boakye, says Ashanti Region is the region with the highest crime rate. According to him, criminals and armed robbers from any part of the region have made Ashanti Region the target of their operation. "I have been a Regional Commander in Greater Accra, Western and other Regions but crime and armed robbery rates in the Ashanti Region is incomparable to any other region I have served." Speaking to Hello FM's King Edward in an exclusive interview, the Ashanti Regional Police Commander explained that combating crime is everybody's business and that the police needs everybody on board to fight crime. We are not going to sit down idle - we will do everything within our powers to clean the region of the criminal activities. He therefore urged and charged MMDCE's to assist the police and also provide police personnel with certain basic logistics that will aid them in their operations. Individuals can also assist the Police by feeding them with information about the activities of these miscreants and hoodlums. They are feeling the heat and gradually deserting the region but we will chase them whereever they go, he assured.
