Ex-Convict Threatens To Kill Niece

A Cape Coast Magistrate Court on Wednesday remanded an ex-convict, Sulley Isaka, into police custody for allegedly threatening to kill his niece, at Adisadel staff quarters in Cape Coast. Sulley who is also a drivers apprentice pleaded not guilty and will be reappear before the court on April 7. Chief Police Inspector Charles Hevi told the court presided over by Ms Mercy Addai Kotei that in the early hours of Saturday, February 8, a cousin of Sulley and the mother of the victim, Madam Hawa Ibrahim, reported to an elder of their family that the accused for the past three weeks had been threatening to kill her niece anytime he was provoked. He said the complainant said she did not know what her daughter had done to deserve the threats from Sulley. Chief Inspector Hevi told the court that on the said date, the victim mistakenly ate food served for the accused, and when he found out, he chased her niece with a machete and threatened to kill her. He said Hawa witnessed the incident and pleaded with his cousin to calm down but all was to no avail. Chief Inspector Hevi said the complainant lodged a complaint at the police station and the police upon reaching the house, saw Sulley sharpening the machete, which he used to threaten them if they did not leave the house but he was arrested.
