Effutu NPP Warn Afenyo Markin

Members of the opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP) in the Effutu Constituency have warned that the party faces an implosion and defeat in the next parliamentary election, should the MP for the area, Alex Afenyo Markin persist in his attempts to hijack the party in constituency. The members of the party who spoke to the paper cited a range of actions by the Member of Parliament which according to them will ultimately affect the fortunes of the party negatively. Sounding very furious, the members of the party noted that during the polling station, electoral area and constituency executive elections of the NPP for example, the MP actively bribed delegates so as to deny some members of the party perceived not to be in the camp of the MP from winning executive positions. They claimed that in areas like Domeabra, Nsuakyi and Gyengandadzi, Afenyo Markin, not only paid people to ensure that his favorites won, but went as far as making the delegates swear to vote as they have been told. The enraged members of the opposition party also stated that aside his divisive acts in the constituency, the MP had also neglected his duties to the constituency, concentrating all his time in Accra and on media platforms, claiming that hardly does the MP visit the constituency though it is a just about an hour from Accra. Alex Afenyo Markin was also accused of making promises and failing to honor them. They cited an example of a promised donation the MP made at some funerals but which he had failed to honor till date. They also claimed that the MP had issued cheques to needy students in the constituency under the pretence of helping cater for their school fees only for the cheques to turn out to be dud cheques. The concerned members of the party hinted that they will soon petition the Central Regional Executives of the NPP to call him to order for his actions which are adversely compromising the chances of the NPP in the next general election.
