Peace Restores To Winneba At Last As 2014 Aboakyire Festival Approaches

The confusion surrounding the annual Aboakyir festival between the Twafo and Dentsifo families of Effutus in Winneba in the Central region has finally come to end as all is set for the celebration of this years festival slated for April 2014. At an inauguration of 13-member board to plan the festival, Head of the Methodist Church- Effutu District, Rev Joseph Maxwell Osei advised the indigenes of Effutu to seek the welfare of the town to enhance social and infrastructural development of the area. The man of God who was passionate about peace in Winneba also appealed to all feuding parties to settle their differences. I wish to appeal to all to bury any difference we may have had and work assiduously to make this years celebrations better, he said. The festival has been recently dogged with disputes between the two Asafo companies. However, Rev. Osei called on the members of the board to work to ensure that the traditional event becomes a success. It is very essential that all bodies especially the members of the board, Dentsifo and Tuafo Asafo companies, our sponsors, all sub-committees and anybody co-opted to be proactive to the approaches of their mandate and assignments, he charged. For his part chairman of the board who doubles as the Headmaster of Nifa Senior High School (SHS,) Mr. Peter Acquah promised to work hard towards a successful Aboakyir Festival. Aboakyir festival is celebrated by the Effutus in Winneba in the central region of Ghana. Winneba is just 35 miles west of Accra, the Capital of Ghana.
