The General Secretary of the People�s National Convention (PNC), Bernard Mornah, is gradually becoming more Catholic than the Pope. He seems to think he wants the success of President John Dramani Mahama, than members of the National Democratic Congress (NDC).
His latest show of love and defense has to do with the call by the National Executive Committee (NEC) of the NDC for President Mahama to reinstate the sacked District Chief Executive (DCE) of Ahafo Ano South in the Ashanti Region, Gabriel Barima.
The former DCE, became a household name when he was captured in a recorded video that went viral, storming out of a function angrily after a staff of Mankranso hospital heckled him while he was addressing the gathering.
Since, we ushered in the 1992 dispensation, the two political parties that have had the benefit of governance, i.e. the New Patriotic Party (NPP) and the NDC, have also had course to appeal to the President to take one decision or another or reverse a decision they think politically will not inure to their benefit in an election.
Johnson Asiedu Nketia, who has been thrown under the bus for performing his duty as a General Secretary has been unfairly treated, since the statement was released.
There is no wording in that statement that sought to undermine the authourity of the president or dictate to him, neither does the General Secretary want to usurp the powers of the President, if anything at all, it was only an appeal to the President to reconsider his decision.
If the party or the General Secretary had the powers that Mr Monah is prescribing for them, they will not have appealed to the President, but would have gone ahead to reinstate Mr Barimah.
The President works according to the dictates of the Constitution, so did the NEC of the NDC.
If Mr. Mornah has any advice to profess, he better channel his energies to building his party.
