A member of the ruling NDC�s Communications Machinery has posited that the squabbling in the opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP) reached its zenith when former President John Agyekum Kufuor allegedly declared his support for Alan Kwadwo Kyerematen. According to Brogya Gyamfi, Ex-President Kufuor�s preference for Alan Kyerematen to succeed him after his tenure had ended instead of Nana Akufo Addo as promised at the party�s congress in Sunyani, worsened the bad blood between the camps of both parties. He further stated that the election petition case was a ploy to retain the old executives in power adding that was why certain people failed to accompany Nana Akufo Addo and the other election petitioners to the Supreme Court. Speaking on Ghana Decides program on Okay Fm, the NDC communicator averred that the mindset behind the Tamale Delegates Conference is skewed to deny the camp of Alan Kyerematen any position at the national executive level to make Nana Akufo Addo�s presidential ambition successful as plans are advanced to commence campaign in 2014 for the 2016 elections. He alleged that majority of the aspirants are those rooting for immediate congress to choose Nana Addo as the Flagbearer, adding those candidates are strategically positioned on the ballot papers to reinstate the old executives to champion the cause of Nana Akufo Addo as those from his camp are placed at the top of the ballot for easy identification. ���if you look at the way certain people are positioned on the ballot, it is strange and for me the positions on the ballot have something to tell�...positions like National Chairman, General Secretary, National Organizer, Youth Organizer, Women�s Organizer; those who are occupying the top positions on the ballot papers are craftily placed to win their respective positions�.these are the people who were with Nana Akufo Addo at the SC during the 2012 election petition hearing and those who did not attend the court proceedings will not win any position�..the bitterness within NPP will not die now since President Kufuor betrayed Nana Addo after he rooted for Alan to succeed him when he was leaving office�, he assessed.
