NDC 2016 Hannah Tetteh Pops Up As Mahamas Running Mate

Snippets of information available to Today indicates that President John Dramani is considering dropping his Vice President, Mr. Paa Kwesi Amissah-Arthur, in 2016, for his alleged close pal and minister for Foreign Affairs and Regional Integration, Hannah Serwaa Tetteh. According to a deep throat source at the Flagstaff House, the seat of government, the president has, not the least, been impressed with the performance of Mr. Amissah-Arthur. The source continued that President Mahama could not come to terms with the fact that Mr. Amissah-Arthur has not been able to bring his expertise to bear on the economy as an economist, having been appointed as a deputy Minister of Finance in the erstwhile Rawlings administration and also a former Governor of Bank of Ghana (BoG). President Mahama continues to be at a loss in the face of the fact that Mr. Amissah-Arthur has not used his expertise as an economist to salvage the countrys ailing economy, the source told Today. It will be recalled that in the run-up to the 2012 elections when the New Patriotic Partys (NPP) flag-bearer, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, chose an astute economist, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, to partner him, President Mahama equally picked an economist to march the NPP boot-for-boot. This was in the light of the fact that the issue of the countrys economy mattered most to many Ghanaians at the time. Ghana has witnessed serious economic setbacks in the first year of President Mahamas administration resulting in alleged massive corruption in the public sector, erratic power supply, continuous increment of petroleum products and above all high cost of living. According to the source, President Mahama is highly disappointed in his vice president for failing as the head of the economic team to provide the needed solutions to the numerous economic challenges confronting the nation. It looks like the purpose of choosing Amissah-Arthur has been defeated hence President Mahamas intention to say good bye to him in 2016, the source added. The source further told the paper that President Mahamas choice of Hanna Tetteh is how articulate she is, her vast experience as a politician and her Fante lineage to ensure that the NDC does not lose hold of Central region votes. However, the source admitted that it will not be easy for President Mahama to push away Mr. Amissah-Arthur for Hannah Tetteh, adding the NDC is not ready for neither a female running mate nor a presidential candidate, and that is why the party rejected the former First Lady, Nana Konadu Agyemang Rawlings, when she wanted to unseat the late President John Evans Fiifi Atta Mills. Meanwhile underground scouting by Today has revealed that the Fante caucus in the NDC, led by the Ahwois, is also pushing hard to have their brother, the minister of Interior, Kwesi Ahwoi, to become Mahamas running mate in 2016. This intended move is because many kingpins within the NDC have a great disaffection for Hanna Tetteh for her perceived arrogant character since she was appointed as the minister of Foreign Affairs and Regional Integration and also not being married. To this end, the source cautioned the NDC, especially President Mahama, to be careful of his decision so as not to break the front of the party ahead of the 2016 General Elections.
