Think Of Ghana First Urges Nduom

2012 flag-bearer of the Progressive Peoples Party (PPP,) Dr. Papa Kwesi Nduom, has called on politicians to think about Ghana first to ensure that the welfare of the citizenry is catered for. Describing the political terrain in Ghana as rough and unhealthy considering the way some politicians conduct themselves when elected into political offices, Dr. Nduom wondered why such politicians always win power. Politicians in this country [Ghana] think only about themselves, their parties, families, friends and how they can amass wealth at the expense of the poor tax payer. Ghana is where it is now because successive governments have failed to optimise the numerous natural resources the country is endowed with to the betterment of the people, he indicated. Dr. Nduom made these observations as host of Ghana, Great and Strong, a week-end programme on Ghanas premiere internet-based radio station, www.hedjorleonlineradio.com, in Accra. Recounting the political state of the country in the first quarter of this year, the 2012 flag-bearer of the PPP expressed his disappointment about the largest opposition party, New Patriotic Party (NPP,) for failing to put the government on its toes. He said the NPP was so engrossed with its internal party contest so much so that, the party according to Dr. Nduom reneged on its constitutional mandate to check the excesses of the NDC administration. In his estimation, such party contests only breed disaffection among party faithful(s) rather than promote collective national unity and cohesion for national development. To this end, the astute business man and politician advised his fellow politicians to be very circumspect in whatever they do and always know that Ghana is bigger than any individual. Lets as politicians be mindful of our actions since the people who vote for us into power always look up to us for solutions for their numerous socio-economic problems, he intimated.
