Shoemaker Gets Three Years For Stealing Sheep

A circuit court at Akim Swedru in the Birim South District on Wednesday slapped a three-year prison term on Kwadwo Adu, a shoemaker, for stealing sheep valued at 300 Ghana Cedis. Adu admitted stealing the sheep and Mr Yaw Atta Sampong, the presiding judge, sentenced him on his own plea. Police Inspector Sabian Sallah said the complainant, Mallam Kassum Abubakari and Adu lived at Akim Oda in the Birim Central Municipality of the Eastern Region, and that on April 3, this year, Mallam Abubakari tied his sheep to graze at the Morning Star School and travelled to Kumasi. Inspector Sallah said the convict, who was loitering around, spotted the sheep and untied it. He said a witness in the case, who saw Adu taking the sheep away, raised the alarm and by the help of people around Adu was apprehended. Inspector Sallah said Mallam Abubakari was invited to the police station where he identified the sheep as his own.
