Prez Mahama Storms Kumasi Thursday

President John Dramani Mahama is expected to visit Kumasi, the Ashanti Regional capital, on Thursday, May 1. The President, who is on a working visit to the area, is expected to stay in the region for about three days. President Mahama would attend a May Day parade in Accra, after which he would fly to Kumasi. From the airport, he and his retinue would dash straight to the Manhyia Palace, the seat of the Asantehene, where he would be expected to inform Otumfuo Osei Tutu II and his subjects about his mission in the region. A close source within the National Democratic Congress (NDC) hinted that President Mahama would be met at the airport by party fans. The source asserted that he would use his visit to inspect ongoing government projects before leaving the region. The President would also use the visit to thank Asanteman (the Ashanti Kingdom) on his election as the country�s Head of State. The President's entourage would proceed to a gathering of Zongo chiefs in Kumasi and interact with them. President Mahama is supposed to visit the Ahinsan Shoe Factory to acquaint himself of what is going on there. On the same day, he would visit the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST) where he is supposed to address the students about key government policies and programmes. On Friday, President Mahama would continue to Asante Mampong to inspect the water project which is almost completed. He would then head for Tepa to ascertain the state of a hospital project which is under construction, before finally leaving the region on Saturday.
