Retired Commodore Praises Navy Recruits

Commodore Albert Bentil Kofi Kakra Addison (Rtd) of the Ghana Navy has described the 238 Navy recruits who passed out at the Eastern Naval Command as very solid on the ground and the best recruits he has ever reviewed throughout his 36 years in active service. He said, These are well-grounded and solid recruits I have seen today and throughout my service in the Ghana Navy. They have the resilience and I want to commend their officers and instructors for a good work done. These are, indeed, solid sailors. Speaking as the Reviewing Officer and Guest of Honour at the Passing Out Parade of the Basic Training (BT) Course 76, Commodore Addison (Rtd) urged the young soldiers to let the six-month-long hard and exhausting training and the experiences gained keep them ready to discharge their duties effectively. He reminded the new sailors of the need to maintain or improve on their physical fitness as well as remain disciplined, steadfast and resolute at all times. Commodore Addison re-echoed the need for the officers to stay away from unauthorised law enforcement duties such as galamsey operations, debt collection or settling of personal disputes without recourse to due process. He advised them to shun partisan politics, molesting innocent civilians who they have sworn an oath to protect, and the need to remain loyal to the President of the Republic, who is the Commander-in-Chief of the Ghana Armed Forces. Awards were presented to deserving sailors who excelled in their BT Course, with Recruits Duncan Francisca, Quayson Gadiel and Quartey David Nii Kwartey emerging as the best female, best in academics and best in drill respectively. Recruit Abonee Paul was adjudged the overall best.
