Extortion At Subin NHIS Subscribers Pay GH1 Without Receipt

SUBSCRIBERS OF the National Health Insurance Service at the Subin Mutual Health Insurance office are complaining about the non-issuance of receipts by staff of the secretariat upon the payment of GH1 for the lamination of the temporary NHIS card supplied. The document would enable them go to the hospital while their NHIS cards are being processed. According to the story we have published elsewhere in the paper today, the amount is taken from new entrants who register at the Subin NHIS facility without the issuance of any receipts to the chagrin of the clients. But the Public Relations Officer of Subin Mutual Health Insurance, Mr. Joseph Sarkodie, has denied any ill intent for not issuing receipts to their clients. According to him, they issue receipts upon request by the client, and that the money goes to the coffers of the facility. Mr. Sarkodie indicated that records of all monies accruing from the GH1 lamination fee are kept by the manager and the accountant.
