Castro, Gyan Cry Foul Over VGMA

Newly-Crowned winner of the Vodafone Ghana Music Award (VGMA) High-life Song of the Year, Castro and his colleagues Asamoah Gyan and Kofi Kinata are beside themselves with rage. According to the trio, their hit song, Odo pa which was adjudged High-life Song of the year, also deserved the High-life Artist of the Year as well as the Best Collaboration awards. They supported their protest with the extensive concerts and programmes they held throughout the year under review which should have attracted the attention of the award committee. One of the key members of Team Castro, Sammy Anim Addo, who doubles as the Chief Executive of Asamoah Gyan Foundation, in a post-event interview said, How can the song win the High-life Song of the Year prize and the High-life Artiste of the Year be given to another artiste? It doesnt make sense. Look! We performed at every function in the year under review. There were occasions we performed in two different concerts same night, so what are they talking about? We feel cheated, we are not enthused about the whole thing, I have spoken with Asa (Gyan) and this is our stand: We were cheated, he added. Castros Odo pa featuring Gyan and Kinata started slowly on the local music chart but arrested the attention of lovers of High-life and took over from R2bees Dome preko and has since been enjoying massive airplay. It was Shatta Wale who picked the flagship prize at the 15th VGMA held at the Accra International Conference Centre last Saturday.
