DSP Arthur Bids Father Farewell

THE FAMILY of Deputy Superintendent of Police Cephas Arthur, the Police Administration and hundreds of sympathizers nationwide, last weekend mourned and buried Alfred Kwaku Arthur (his father) at Akyem Asanteman, near Oda in the Eastern region. The funeral gathering which took place at Akyem Asanteman drew Police Commanders from all the eleven regions and districts and chiefs around the area to mourn with the National Police Public Relations Director and siblings. The chief of Akyem Asanteman, Nana Akese hinted that the demise of Alfred Arthur came as a shock not only to the family, but to the entire Akyem Asanteman, because the parents of the deceased who are from the Volta region sojourned with them in the town for more than half a century and he became a valuable asset to the people of the area. The chief cited that in 2000 when the town was connecting to the national grid, Mr. Arthur who was by then working with the defunct Ghana Telecom single handedly donated twelve electric poles to facilitate the work. DSP Cephas Arthur, the elderly son of Mr. Kwaku Arthur told the Daily Heritage that the death of his father which was announced to him on January 13, hit him like a blow and the vacuum created cannot be filled. He said his father was his mentor and his backbone, he elaborated how his late father passed through various hardships in life in bringing them up, and that alone was able to humble himself and his other siblings.
