A leading member of the governing National Democratic Congress (NDC) Ato Ahwoi says he is now too old to engage in active politics. According to him, though things are not going smoothly as expected in the Mahama-led administration, his age does not allow him to criticize the government as he used to before. He explained that he is now too old for such talks. Adding that, he expects the youth within the NDC party to criticize the government if things are going wayward. �I am now 70-years and old so I have stopped talking. I have handed that role to the young ones in the party. Even if I have something to say, I channel that through the young ones to do so. I am done with such things. ��Gone are the days when I used to criticize the NPP, I was young by then...I am now a retiree so I don�t talk again,� he said. Speaking on Asempa FM last Friday May 9, the Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Ghana National Petroleum Corporation (GNPC), Ato Ahwoi admitted that the country is facing dire economic straits. �There is hardship in this country now; no one can deny that fact but some people make it look like Ex-President Kufour did everything possible for this country, as if there was no hardship during his era. �..People are painting late Mills and President Mahama black for Ghana�s economic woes. We must have it in mind that, there is hardship everywhere and that will never end. The whole world is complaining of hardship so let us stop complaining,� he opined. Mr. Ato Ahwoi recently chaired a six-member advisory committee, to work out the modalities for the establishment of the Ghana Infrastructure Fund (GIF) tasked by the President.
