Ministers Cash Vanishes At TEINs Handing Over

Drama unfolded last Saturday at the Community Centre of the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST), when GH1,000.00 donated by the Minister of Tourism, Mrs. Elizabeth Ofosu Agyare as her contribution to keep the activities of the Tertiary Education Institute Network (TEIN) of the ruling National Democratic Congress (NDC) could not be accounted for after the close of a handing over ceremony. Mrs. Agyare who was the guest speaker for the occasion when the old executives handed over to the new ones, after delivering an inspiring speech donated GH1,000.00 to support the very intellectual wing of the NDC which she was once a member during her school days, but the money went into wrong pocket, thereby, defeating the intended purpose it was dashed out for. The missing money saga stirred an unquenchable controversy between both old and the new executives as members of both sides were pointing accusing figures at each other. Fataw Sadique who took over from Shadrack Ahiable as the new president of the KNUST chapter of TEIN, when realized the money got missing sooner after the dignitaries including the immediate past Ghanas Ambassador to USA, Denial Ohene Agyekum, the national Youth Organizer of the party, Ludwig Hlodze ,the aspiring Greater Accra Regional Chairman, Henry Ekow Manly-Spain among others left the venue and pleaded with the media e to sweep whatever transpired under the carpet. Im really disturbed, someone has stepped on the money donated to us by the Honourable Minister, please I beg you let things remain here, he pleaded. The question that is still seeking credible answer is if young members of TEIN who are aspiring to occupy national positions in not too distance future are not be able to protect their integrity, what kind of leader will they give to the country when the mantle is handed to them? Mrs. Agyare in her earlier address asked the members of TEIN to consider themselves as ambassadors of the NDC beyond mere organizing campus activities. She charged them to go to the hinter lands to propagate the agenda and policy of the party to those at the grassroots level. According to her, it is obvious the NDC under the leadership of President John Mahama will win the 2016 election, but to record that on a silver platter they must engage in comprehensive dialogue with their colleagues in other tertiary institutions to realize this goal. The new executives were sworn in by Mr. Hlozde, the National Youth Organizer who also called on them to be steadfast without antagonizing themselves.
