Prophet Kankam Escapes Murder

Eyewitnesses who narrated the incident to this reporter said the men were carrying what looked like a machete, a Guinness bottle and sticks and subjected the leader of the Freedom Fighters Fellowship to harrowing experiences by kicking him in the groin and landing right and left slaps on his face. Speaking in an interview with this reporter however, Prophet Kankam said the land with registration Plot No. 15432005, Property No. C6423, Deeds registry No. CRD274, Serial No. 198/06 was bought in the late 90s by his sister, Margaret Kankam for which the family farm and work on as caretakers for many years and continue to cultivate corn, cassava and other food crops. According to Prophet Kankam on April 26, 2014 he was ploughing and working on the land when he and the tractor operator, popularly called Africa were attacked by four unknown men from two unregistered cars. One of the attackers by name Abu who was holding the Guinness bottle and attacked him, Prophet Kankam revealed, further threatened him saying, Your days are numbered whilst the other men subjected him to severe beating for about 15 minutes. According to the mother-in-law of the Prophet, Madam Bertha, who is an Ewe and was also on the farm land, she over-heard one of them shout in the Ewe language that We were sent to kill this man, why not put him on the ground and finish him off with the Guinness bottle? Prophet Kankam said soon after the unfortunate incident, he lodged a formal complaint with the Kasoa New market Police Station and was given a Police Medical form following which he was treated and discharged from the Kasoa-Poly Clinic. He further revealed that, whilst away from home to the Police Station, one Noah called him on his cell phone and invited him to meet one of the attackers and the others on the said farm land. The CID in-charge of the case, Inspector Garbah, who was then listening in to the conversation invited Noah, Alex and the others through a phone call to report alongside with their documents covering the farm land in question to the Kasoa District police Headquarters for interrogations but unfortunately, none of them showed up as he (Prophet Kankam) and the Inspector waited and waited at the Kasoa District headquarters in vain. The case is still pending at the Kasoa District Headquarters, and investigations are still on-going, Prophet Kankam said. However, further attempts by this paper to contact the Inspector on phone to find out recent developments on the case have proved futile as at the time of going to press. Checks conducted at the station revealed that the officer was on leave.
