Akosa To Host Vikings Big Bash On Monday

Members of the Mensah Sarbah Hall Alumni Association will gather in their numbers at the Loggia, the Senior Common Room of the Mensah Sarbah Hall of the University of Ghana, Legon, on Monday afternoon, for their usual holiday bash. The get-together is being sponsorship by Prof. Agyeman Badu Akosa, the world-renowned pathologist and former Director General of the Ghana Health Service, with support from Mr. Kofi Duah Adonteng, an Accra-based legal practitioner and former Post Master General of the Republic of Ghana. According to an official release from the Mensah Sarbah Hall Alumni Association, there will be a live band, with the usual Mpusou cuisine, to be prepared under the strict hygienic guidance of Nana Twum, Vikings Life Chef. An unimpeachable Viking source hinted The Chronicle yesterday that Dr. Mohammed Ibn Chambas, popularly revered in Viking sources as Chambu, is flying in from his base in Geneva to solidarise with his Viking colleagues on African Union day. There is news too that Mrs. Betty Mould-Iddrisu, one-time Minister of Education, is invading the Loggia bash with a variety of home cooked meals, including tuo zaafi, fufu and abunabu. There is kelewele too from her stable of rich Ghanaian dishes. The dance floor is likely to be heavy with performers from Amanaways Obscene Choir dancers with their drummers in the background, which means a leading role for Ms. Gloria Akuffo, and her dancing partner in Ms. Mangwa Christian. Reports indicate that all Viking heavyweights, including Papa Owusu Ankomah, Mr. O.B. Amoah, Opoku Agyeman and Tom Sawyerr will be in attendance. Tom Sawyerr will inspect a Guard of Honour to be mounted by a squadron of Opomates. The news doing the rounds, as fellows and seniors of the hall sipped their beer at the Logia last night, was that Mr. Kwadwo Owusu-Afriyie, popularly known as Sir John, immediate past General Secretary of the New Patriotic Party, will tell the inside story of why he chose to console himself with Daddy Lumbas Yentie Obiaa, which is now a Presidential favourite. A prominent member of the prosecution, in the infamous Cow Head trial, Sir John is said to have hinted that that a drama group will put the trial on stage on Monday. A statement issued by the Viking Secretariat encourages all members to be present and bring in food and drinks. Remember that under the Viking Constitution, fried rice remains an unwholesome food.
