Girl, 10 Short Dead

A Ten-Year-old girl died instantly when he was shot with an AK 47 assault rifle by unknown persons currently on the run at Twedie near Tepa in the Ashanti Region, on Monday. The deceased, identified as Adwoa Konadu, was traveling with other passengers in a Ford Transit vehicle when the trigger happy gangsters shot indiscriminately into the vehicle. The driver of the vehicle also suffered four gunshot wounds in his arm but luckily, he survived the unexpected deadly attack and he is currently responding to treatment at the hospital. DCOP Kofi Boakye, the Ashanti Regional Police Commander, who broke the sad news to newsmen at the Police Depot at patase in Kumasi, gave the assurance that the police would arrest the culprits. Considering the manner in which the hoodlums carried out their operations he said the police were convinced that the particular case had nothing to do with highway robbery. According to him, the police were suspecting that the gangsters had a clear intention of assassinating the driver of the Ford Transit vehicle, but they ended up killing the innocent girl. Throwing more light on the case, he said some unknown people who were wielding AK 47 riffles were hiding Tepa, when the Ford Transit vehicle emerged. The assassins then shouted the name of the driver of the vehicle and they followed it up by shooting into it, killing the girl, and injuring the driver, who is believed to be the target of the goons. DCOP Boakye said the hoodlums fired about 20 shots into the car, disclosing that the police found ten spent shells of AK 47 cartridges at the scene of the dastardly act, some hours after the incident. He described the case, especially the killing of the girl, as very unfortunate. He was speaking at an emergency Regional Police Commanders Conference on Tuesday where Police chiefs strategized to deal with violent crimes.
