Girl, 23, Stabs Rival

A 23-year-old beautician, Ruth Tagoe, who allegedly used a broken jug to stab a student when she found her on her (Tagoe�s) lover�s bed, has been put before an Accra Circuit Court for causing harm. The beautician, on seeing the student, allegedly picked a quarrel with her lover and decided to vent her spleen on the student without any provocation. She was put before a court presided over by Sedina Agbemava, where she pleaded not guilty to the offence of causing harm. Ruth has been granted bail in the sum of GH�5,000 with three sureties � one to be justified by a public servant earning not less than GH�12,000. The case has been adjourned to June 25, 2014. Chief Inspector Kofi Atimbire told the court that the complainant is a student and resides at Korle-Gonno, Accra, with her elder brother while the accused person is a beautician and a resident of Shiabu, a suburb of Dansoman, also in Accra. Chief Inspector Atimbire said on August 12, 2013, at about 4:00 am, the accused person came to visit her boyfriend, Nicholas Aquah, at Dansoman Agege and met the victim on his bed. According to the prosecutor, the victim also happened to be in a relationship with the said young man and added that the accused person quarreled with her boyfriend when she saw the student on the lover�s bed. The police officer said that in the midst of the quarrel, the suspect took hold of a jug, broke it into two and then used it to stab the student on her left arm, making her sustain serious injuries. The prosecutor told the court that the matter was consequently reported to the police and the victim was given a form to go to the hospital for treatment, adding that Tagoe was arrested and arraigned after police had concluded investigations.
