NPP MP Is Hot For Polluting Water Source Of 50 Communities

The residents of Amamole in the Ga West District in the Greater Accra Region are up in arms with Mr. Collins Ntim, the opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP) Member of Parliament (MP) for Offinso North, who, they allege, has polluted the source of water for over 50 communities in the area. Mr. Ntim is alleged to have engaged a contractor to do a refill of land he has procured just few meters away from River Nsaki at Amamole. The contractor is using garbage to do the refill and unfortunately that has spilled into the river, causing the colour of the water to change instantly. According to the residents, a right-hand man of the MP, whose name they gave as Alhaji, is also rather provoking them after their lives have been put in grave danger. They told The Enquirer that Mr. Ntims man told them they can never stop the MP from using the area, no matter what happens to the water. But Mr. Ntim told The Enquirer, upon contact, that the contractor did use the right material for the refill. As a Deputy Ranking Member for Health, I will not do anything to endanger the lives of others, he said. According to him, he has discussed the possibility of getting the contractor to use laterite to fill the area. When The Enquirer asked him whether the area he had the land was okay, he said that he does not see anything wrong. Mr. Ntim told The Enquirer that he would like to settle in the area and would not do anything to destroy his image before he settles down. Meanwhile, The Enquirer has gathered that some of the residents have informed the Ga West Assembly of the nasty situation. The residents are asking the assembly to stop the development of the land, as it would destroy the water.
