Suame Traders Go Agog

AFFECTED TRADERS of a massive decongestion exercise on the compound of the Suame District Police Headquarters in Kumasi were thrown into an ecstatic mood on Wednesday morning when the Ashanti Regional Police Commander, DCOP Kofi Boakye, stormed the place to inspect work done so far on the land. The affected traders were seen shouting and singing victory songs, drawing a sizeable number of curious people to the scene. Naturally, the affected traders should have displayed anger but surprisingly, the over hundred traders were rather seen in jubilant moods as they welcomed the police capo to the area. Some of the traders, especially the nursing mothers among them, were even seen going down on their knees as they kept shouting the name of DCOP Kofi Boakye. This was minutes after the police commander had explained thoroughly to the traders that the decongestion exercise was not to punish them but rather meant to secure police lands from encroachers. DCOP Kofi Boakye said, Now that the illegal structures on the vast land have been removed, the entire land would be walled so that people who want to steal police lands would be obstructed. He added that the police also have intentions of making the Suame and Asokwa police stations as operational centres so that the police could rapidly respond to distress calls for help from the public. Again, he explained that the Suame Police Station when walled would also serve as a training centre for the police to help the men in black to become combat ready to fight crime. Some of the traders who spoke with the DAILY GUIDE stated that the Ashanti Region has been peaceful ever since DCOP Kofi Boakye was transferred to the place.
