GJA Congratulates Peace Fm On Its 15th Anniversary

The Ghana Journalist Association is proud to pour its fulsome praise on Peace FM on the occasion of its 15TH anniversary. The leading private Akan station entered the electronic media with a splash of history at a time English Language was the dominant medium of communication. Since then, Peace FM's groundbreaking and game changing strides have known no bounds. Little wonder, Peace FM now tops the league table of radio stations in terms of listenership after only 15 years in operation. The innovative spark, linguistic flair and passionate addiction to excel are the key factors that have propelled the station to its present unassailable position. But all this could not have materialised without the visionary gift and entrepreneurial frenzy of the owner of the station, Dr. Osei Kwame Despite. Despite finding himself in an alien field of broadcast journalism Despite has emerged as the defining figure in local language broadcasting. His investment drive has vastly expanded the media landscape, offered jobs and broken linguistic barriers. Furthermore, Despite's chain of Akan stations gives practical meaning to the constitutional rights and sovereign entitlement of the ordinary Ghanaian to receive and disseminate information as well as contribute to the national discourse. On the occasion of its 15th anniversary the GJA salutes Peace FM's staff, management and the progressive owner for their amazing strides and monumental achievements. Congratulations and God bless you. Dr Affail Monney
