Tema Banishes Man For Disrespect

For disrespecting the Tema paramountcy, the Tema Traditional Council (TTC) has banished a settler from their land. Some residents of Tsigelikpodzi, a suburb of Tema New Town, were rendered homeless following the demolition of their houses by a taskforce of the TTC. The residents, who are mainly fishermen and fishmongers, lived in the community for decades. Mr Evans Horve Fiadu spoke on various media platforms condemning the action of the TTC. The TTC found Mr Fiadus comments offensive and invited him, but he declined the invitation, forcing the TTC to banish him. Leading a delegation of nine Ewe chiefs from Keta, the Ewe Community Chief of Tema Newtown Torgbui Dickson Datsomor II, was said to have met with the TTC with sheep, bottles of Schnapps, some soft drinks and a cash of GH200, but they were rejected. Nii Armarh Sompomu II, who is the Shipi and Land Allocation Secretary of the TTC, said several warnings were sent to Mr Fiadu to stop his negative practices, but to no avail. Nii Sompomu II defended the decision of the Tema paramountcy to drive out Evans Fiadu from their land to save his life as, according to him, the TTC could not provide him with security after his gross disrespect for the Stool and the Tema Clan, who own the Tsigelikpodzi land. When contacted on phone, Mr Fiadu confirmed his banishment but declined to disclose his present location,
