Police To Escort Kumasi-Accra-Bound Buses

The Ashanti Regional Police Commander, DCOP Kofi Boakye says police officers will escort every Kumasi VIP Accra-bound bus that travels in the night, to curb highway robbery. He said there will also be more police patrol teams on the road and the police will also mount tent city posts at vantage points, particularly between Konongo and Nkawkaw. According to him, to deepen the process and decentralise the security service, he will be travelling to all the villages along the Kumasi-Accra highway to meet the chiefs and people. DCOP Kofi Boakye, who made this known at an emergency Ashanti Regional Police Divisional and District Commanders meeting in Kumasi, added that the meeting would help the two parties - the police and the community - come together and strategise on how best to collaborate to fight crime. He said the crime situation in the region had gone down, except for some few areas which have been identified as crime-prone, such as Breku Forest on the Kumasi-Accra Highway, and Nkenkensu on the Techiman road. He assured the public of total security and advised them to have confidence in the police and voluntarily give them information leading to the arrest of criminals.
