Police Warn Hotel Operators

The Eastern Regional Police Command has cautioned hotel operators in the region to comply with their constitutional obligations by taking details of their clients before lodgings them in their facilities. The warning was issued by the Deputy Regional Police Commander, ACP James Azuma Abass Abaah, on Wednesday at a press conference on issues bordering on the state of crime and security in the region. He hinted that negligence on the part of hoteliers had created safe havens for criminals to perpetrate crime, and gave an instance where six robbers who lodged at a hotel at Juapong failed to properly identify themselves when they were arrested. The Deputy Regional Police Commander said the hotel authorities only managed to give the name of one of the robbers as Babs, which could not help in the police investigation. ACP Abass Abaah, therefore, pleaded with hoteliers to ensure strict compliance to rules and regulations governing their establishment in order to avoid conflict with the law. The police boss also called for more public cooperation in the fight against the recent spate of crime in the region. He also advised the public to be more security conscious and put in measures to guarantee their safety.
